Chapter 1
Some things feel so near, yet live so far —
and others, distant, somehow find your heart.
The love that reaches deepest, heals the most,
arrives not from the expected, but the close.
A stranger noticed what the others missed —
the shift behind my eyes, the things I wished.
Before I'd said a word, they'd felt the weight,
and showed up, softly, before it grew too late.
When silence stretched too long, they felt the fear,
left a dozen messages just to say I'm here.
They knew the little things that made me smile,
sat beside my broken and stayed a while.
Happy when I'm happy,
sad when I am sad —
the kind of love I didn't know
was something I could have.
This is the love I almost let go —
a man I hurt, disappointed, yet even so,
every time I called, he answered, every time,
no matter the hour, no matter the climb.
While the one I thought I loved
answered my good morning at seven in the evening —
he was already there,
already believing.
He listened when I made no sense at all,
found ways to make me laugh when I would fall.
A stranger — yet he knew me, known and true,
more than the love I thought I always knew.
I was new to love then, didn't understand
what it meant to be held by steady hands.
But this stranger took my heart and showed me how —
to be loved truly. I understand it now.
To be needed.
To be wanted.
To be chosen as you are.
To be pulled out of the shell
you built around your scars.
He watched me grow and never looked away,
quietly built my confidence day by day.
Now I walk a little taller, head held high —
I finally have someone in my corner, by my side.
Someone who loves me past my imperfection,
who never tried to bend me his direction.
Who looked at all of me — the soft, the shy —
and said you are enough, and meant it every time.
He loved me without filters.
He loved me without pretence.
Finally —
I was seen.
Seen by a stranger who gathered every broken piece,
and loved me back to something whole,
and loved me back to peace.
I love my Stranger. 🤍
