Chains of Grim Measure

Chapter 1 DEC caught two boys, no calendar confusion— Their journey ignited in a crack house’s illusion. Peer pressure entwined them in dangerous pleasure, One puff turned leisure into chains of grim measure. Bound like salt and pepper, forever entwined, They spiral deeper as addiction’s dark tides unwind. Weed, their first love, promised to dispel their fears— Or so they thought, veiling truth and drowning years. Anxiety mounts—each day without feels like a desert’s cruel glare, A thirst so raw, the soul cries out for relief, laid bare. Productivity fades as they chase a fleeting high, Lost in clouds once climbed, now darkening the sky. They part ways—one glimpses hope, the other plunges into the abyss, Kennedy, now a dealer, ensnared in a relentless twist. From user to dealer, he dives deeper into night’s grip, His once-bright eyes hollowed, his spirit starting to slip. A wild dog unleashed, prowling through the encroaching gloom, Until fate and a shotgun seal his darkened tomb. Bang—the final roar shatters the silence of night, A life extinguished, leaving only shadows in its flight. Greg arrives, standing over the grave of his fallen friend, “Kennedy,” he whispers, heart breaking as their past meets its end.
